Nucleic acids
- Nucleic acids are the genetic material.
- Nucleic acids are information storage
molecules that provide the directions for
building proteins.
- There are actually two types of nucleic
acids: deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and
ribonucleic acid (RNA).
- DNA provides directions for its own
replication. DNA also directs RNA
synthesis and, through RNA, controls
protein synthesis.
