According to the available literature the energy consumed in other recycling methods from 2 to 10 kWh/kg. Thus, as long as 21 days are used to recycled carbon fibers, the energy consumed per kg of carbon fibers is competitive and far below the energy consumed to manufacture the virgin carbon fibers (55-165 kWh/kg). Therefore, from the aspect of energy consuming, the electrochemical recycling method is economical.
