Considering that mobile phones contain non-renewable natural resources such as gold, silver, copper and palladium, DOCOMO began collecting used mobile phones to recycle these valuable materials in 1998. In 2001, DOCOMO and the Telecommunications Carriers Association (TCA) created the Mobile Recycle Network to collect mobile phones irrespective of brands and/or manufacturers. Mobile phones now are collected at DOCOMO Shops and many other locations. Going forward, DOCOMO will continue to collect used mobile phones and publicize the importance of recycling.
