Introduction:
This experiment covers the determination of the compressive strength of cement mortars. We will use in this experiment 50-mm cube specimens. The cement mortar used consists of 1 part cement and 2.75 parts of sand proportioned by mass which means that every gram of cement should be mixed with 2.75 grams of sand. These quantities of cement and sand should be mixed at specified water/cement ratios. The 50-mm cubes are compacted by tamping in three layers.
