In Moore systems, such as CE6 and CE8, the output depends only on the present state of the system. (The combinational logic that produces the output is just a function of the contents of the various flip flops.) (The output does, of course, depend on the input, since the state depends on the input, but the effect on the output is delayed until after the next clock.) In other examples, such as CE7, the output depends on the current input as well as the contents of memory.
