Chaophya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital in Prachin Buri will put on a healthy Songkran festival from tomorrow until April 16. Running daily from 8.30am to 4pm at its Learning Centre, the festival features a Buddha bathing ritual, a showcase of ancient Thai fragrances, and a demonstration of the medicinal benefits of using ginger to take care of the elderly. Throughout the five days, participants will learn to make dried fermented ginger, a healthy snack that helps facilitate the expulsion of gas in the intestines, as well as ginger juice with lemon basil seeds, which benefit the excretory system. Ginger will remain the hot topic in the following weekends as the hospital continues to present demonstrations on how to make ointments and balms from ginger in order to help alleviate pain and inflammation from April 19-20; as well as showing how to make ginger liquor, ginger tea and chewy ginger balls to nourish the fire element in the body on April 26-27. There is no admission fee for the activities. Call 037-211-289 or 087-582-0597.
