Biodiesel is a renewable energy and can be produced from a
variety of sources, including plants, animals and microbes (Williams
and Laurens, 2010). Microalgae are of particular interest as
a most promising source of biomass for biodiesel production due
to their potential to synthesize and accumulate large quantities
of lipids in some species (Doan et al., 2011; Griffiths and Harrison,
2009). Another advantage of microalgae is that most of their stored
lipids are triacylglycerols (TAG) (Hu et al., 2008; Wu et al., 2013)
which are suitable to produce biodiesel (Chisti, 2007).
