On the other hand, the amounts of total phenolic compounds
assessed by HPLC were significantly lesser than those obtained
by the Folin–Ciocalteu method. This latter method was
predictable due to the weak selectivity of the Folin–Ciocalteu
reagent, as it reacts positively with different antioxidant compounds
(phenolic and nonphenolic substances) (Que et al.,
2006).
