The aim of this study was to prepare melt electrospun poly(L-lacticacid)(PLLA) fibers withrelatively
high macromolecular orientation and crystallinity(thus relatively high mechanicalproperties)forfuture
biomedical studies.UponmeltelectrospinningPLLA fibers inhotairflow,theelevatedenvironmental
temperaturewasacquired;andthe filaments/fibers couldbestretchedbythehotairflow and/orfora
prolongedperiodoftime.Theeffectsofspeedandtemperatureofhotairflow onmacromolecularor-
ientation andcrystallinityofPLLA fibers wereinvestigated,andtheresultsindicatedthatthePLLA fibers
with higherdegreesofmacromolecularorientationandcrystallinitycouldbepreparedunderthecon-
dition ofhotterairflowhavingfasterspeed
