Earlier today, a Virgin Atlantic 747-400 made a successful emergency landing into Gatwick airport. Shortly after takeoff, the Las Vegas bound jet experienced a gear failure, and the right outboard main landing gear was stuck in the retracted position. After circling Southern England for approximately 4 hours to troubleshoot and burn off fuel, the 747 touched down safely at Gatwick.
Reports say the passengers were told to use the brace position for landing. Thanks to the fine work by the pilots and crew, everyone made it out safely.
