Methods
The results reported in this article are based on field research conducted in Cambodia from February through November 1995. This study was approved by the National Maternal and Child Health Center in Phnom Penh and Human Subject Protection Committee at University of Califonia, Los Angeles. A descriptive research design was employed to learn beliefs and practices surrounding postpartum from childbearing wome rural and urban scttings through a combination of focus group(FG)discussions and in-depth, semistructured interviews. In addition, the perspective of rural traditional birth attendants(TBAs) and urban midwives
