This analytic approach was used to uncover the shared mental model associated with the performance factors identified from the literature review findings (Table 1). Since structure determines behavior (Senge 1990), the results from ISM were used to draw managerial and theoretical implications for project performance.
To collect data for ISM, several project management professio- nals and project managers representing various disciplines and in- dustries were contacted. The ISM process was used to interpret the collected data and to develop a model for enhancing project per- formance. This model helped to identify various strategies for enhancing project performance.
