The δ13C and δ15N values (mean±SD) of sea cucumbers just before
the field experiment were −14.8±0.2‰ (n=5) and 8.3±
0.6‰ (n=5), respectively (Fig. 10). The δ13C and δ15N values
(mean±SD) of the sea cucumbers after the 238 days culture below
the fish cages were −19.1±0.3‰ (n=5) and 8.9±0.3‰ (n=5),
while those of the sea cucumbers cultured at the control station were
−17.5±0.4‰ (n=5) and 8.7±0.6‰ (n=5), respectively. The sea cucumbers
cultured at the fish farm stations were significantly (paired
t-test, Pb0.001) reduced in 13C by an average of 1.6‰ relative to those
at the control station.
