3.2. Black color—the Bekko pattern
Only part of the offspring had a Bekko pattern in crosses where both or only one of the parents had the Bekko pattern (Table 4). An average of 75.9% of the offspring had the Bekko pattern in nine crosses between Bekko parents, fitting a 3:1 ratio (x2, P—0.13). When separately testing, two of the nine crosses deviated from a 3:1 but fitted to a 2:1 ratio, four deviated from a 2:1 but fitted to a 3:1 ratio and three fitted both ratios (Table 4). In 14 crosses where only one parent had the Bekko pattern, an average of 48.7% of the offspring had the Bekko pattern, fitting a 1:1 ratio (y2, p=0.1). Tested separately, 1 out of the 14 crosses deviated from a 1:1 ratio.
In four crosses resulting from two transparent males and two Kohaku females, none of the offspring had the Bekko pattern. However, offspring with black Bekko pattern were observed in five crosses between two transparent females and five males showing
