Task 8 Corrective Action for Enterobacteriaceae and/or Cronobacter out of specification result
Each Facility
1. If any result is out of specification a corrective action report shall be issued.
1.1 The corrective action report documents the date sampled, area description, site description, microbiological result, corrective action steps and retest results
2 In the event of an out-of-specification result the affected area(s) are to be re-cleaned/sanitized within 24 hours of notification of the out-of-specification result. Previously out-of-specification sample locations shall be re-sampled to ensure that the problem has been eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level.
2.1 Trends which indicate increased action in a Critical or High Hygiene zone shall prompt an investigation by the facility HACCP Team and/or facility Quality Assurance.
2.2 Root cause of the increased action must be determined and corrective action (plans) must be established.
2.3 Specific sample locations which return greater than three consecutive out-of-specification results.
2.4 Corrective action and/or additional recommendations for improved sanitation, traffic flow, personnel cGMPs, etc. must be provided (when applicable) to personnel with responsibility for the area.
3 Additional investigative sampling may be conducted to determine if the contamination is widespread.
4 The person(s) with responsibility for the affected area(s) shall return if the corrective action report to environmental monitoring program owner and/or the microbiology laboratory for retesting once the site has been cleaned.
