authors found no significant changes in blood plasma
glucose, total protein, or uric acid concentration after
exposure to 38°C as compared with exposure to 23°C.
The aim of our study was to detect the effects of transport
stress on changes to selected biochemical stress parameters
(corticosterone, uric acid, triglycerides, total
protein, glucose, and lactate) in broilers transported to
the slaughterhouse under conditions of various ambient
temperatures. Concentrations of corticosterone, uric
acid, triglycerides, total protein, glucose, and lactate
have been suggested as sensitive parameters indicating
the level of stress and possible muscle damage caused by
the struggling activity of transported birds, as well as
the effect of ambient conditions throughout transport
because these concentrations reflect the physiological
state of the body during changed ambience.
