A high percentage of the children had significant strengths such as having good interpersonal skills. In particular, although the prevalence of School Performance needs was high (41%), 87% of children were rated as having Educational Strengths, indicating that the majority of schools were working closely with family or other professionals to support the child's educational needs. These areas of strengths can serve as protective factors that may buffer the impact of stress and difficulties related to placement in out-of-home care.
