nominal threshold setting of 4 MeV, 3He and 4He that stop in M2 and T1
will trigger M1M and M2M. For deeper ranges the energy loss in M1 and
then M2 drops below 4 MeV, but H and He can still be identified using the
“ADC2” trigger mode (see Section 3.7 and Table IV) if the energy loss in M1
and M2 is above the software thresholds M1L and M2L. For M1L M2L
0.5 MeV, this mode allows 4He to be identified to the end of T7 (40
MeV/nuc). If either of these thresholds is raised above their nominal settings,
the energy range for He will be decreased.
