The researchers applied a four-phase research and development
methodology to pilot test the PmEB mobile phone
application for monitoring real-time caloric balance. When
compared to paper and pencil, mobile phone users scored
PmEB the same as or higher on usability, compliance and
satisfaction, showing that PmEB may be a feasible selfmonitoring
tool. The thematic analysis supports these
results and suggested areas of improvement.
