About the University
Currently Tver State Technical University (TvSTU) is a big education, research and production complex comprising seven faculties and three institutes.
It was established in 1922. It has 43 departments staffing 478 professors. Among them there are 61 Full Professors, Doctors of Sciences, and 270 Associate Professors, PhD.
There are 8 900 students (including 4 000 full-time ones) mastering 39 directions and specialties at the university.
Tver State Technical University is a Russian university the education and research of which are well-known in a wide range of countries in the world.
The University Rector is Full Professor Andrey Viktorovich TVARDOVSKIY, Doctor of Sciences in Physics and Mathematics.
Since 1979 we have a preparation section for foreign citizens at the Faculty of International Academic Cooperation, graduated by over 5 300 foreign students from over 80 countries of the world.
Over 700 foreign students were awarded Engineer Diplomas, over 300 foreign citizens proved their PhD theses, over 120 foreigners were certified as Russian Language Teachers for Russian Language Courses.
For the years of working in Tver, the university prepared over 72 thousand specialists and scientific workers, which is a serious contribution to the social and economic development of Tver Region.
The university is proud of its graduates, among which are scientists and professors, heads of major companies and organizations, famous managers, government, political and public leaders.
FACULTY OF NATURE MANAGEMENT AND ENGNEERING ECOLOGY (FNMEE)
Faculty of Nature Management and Engineering Ecology at Tver State Technical University is the only one in Russia to educate unique peat industry specialists. Its departments that have their graduates (Geotechnology and Peat Manufacturing Department and Peat Machinery and Equipment Department) celebrated their 90-th anniversary in 2012.
Faculty of Nature Management and Engineering Ecology was established in 1996.
The faculty is headed by Full Professor Oleg S. MISNIKOV, Doctor of Sciences in Engineering.
There are approximately 600 students being educated at the faculty.
Since 2011 the faculty has been educating Bachelors in compliance with new Federal Government Education Standards for Higher Vocational Education in six directions:
- Heat and Power Engineering, Heat Engineering,
- Technologic Machinery and Equipment;
- Operation of Transportation and Technological Machinery and Complexes;
- Power- and Resource-Saving Processes in Chemical Technology, Petrochemistry and Biotechnology.
- Nature Management and Water Consumption;
- Technosphere Safety;
and specialists in two specialties:
- Mining,
- On-Land Transportation and Technological Machinery.

MACHINE-BUILDING FACULTY (MBF)
Machine-Building Faculty - one of the oldest faculties at TvSTU - was founded in November 1965.
One of the priority directions of the faculty is a targeted individual training of specialists in the framework of direct contracts with leading regional companies in order to adapt the specialists to the objectives of the companies.
TvSTU concluded an Agreement and a Contract with Technological University of Belfort-Montbéliard, France that allow the students of the faculty to have a six-month practical training and studying in France.
The faculty is headed by Full Professor Vladimir V. MESHKOV, Doctor of Sciences in Engineering.
There are approximately 500 students being educated at the faculty.
Since 2011 the faculty has been educating Bachelors in compliance with new Federal Government Education Standards for Higher Vocational Education in five directions:
- Electric Power Supplying and Electrical Engineering;
- Technological Machinery and Equipment.
- Engineering and Design Support for Machine-Building;
- On-Land Transport and Technological Complexes;
- Process and Production Automation;
and specialists in the specialty:
- On-Land Transport and Technological Means.

CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING FACULTY (CEF)
The students graduated from the faculty are always in construction companies' demand because they are provided with a vast basis of theoretical knowledge. The youngest specialists must be interested in our deeper training for real work in construction (for example, supplementary training in up-to-date technologies for cast-in-place construction, building reconstruction and repair, facade and interior finishing and decoration, winter construction, power-efficient building construction, etc.).
The faculty is headed by Associate Professor Aleksey A. ARTEMIEV, Doctor of Economic Sciences.
There are approximately 650 students being educated at the faculty.
Since 2011 the faculty has been educating Bachelors in compliance with new Federal Government Education Standards for Higher Vocational Education in two directions:
- Land Surveying and Land Management (profile: Realty Cadaster);
- Construction
with profiles:
- Industrial and Civil Construction;

FACULTY OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES (FIT)
Faculty of Information Technologies is one of the youngest ones in Tver State Technical University. It was founded on 1 September 2011.
The faculty educates engineers and researchers majoring in creation and introduction of:
State-of-the-art information technologies;
Soft- and hardware;
Automation facilities and control systems;
Instrument engineering;
Bioengineering and medical devices and systems.
There is a multidepartment laboratory of Control Theory and Distributed Computing opened by the initiative of Stanislav Vasilievich Emelyanov, Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The faculty is headed by Full Professor Aleksey R. KHABAROV, PhD in Engineering.
There are approximately 700 students being educated at the faculty.
Since 2011 the faculty has been educating Bachelors in compliance with new Federal Government Education Standards for Higher Vocational Education in seven directions:

CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY FACULTY (CTF)
Chemical Technology Faculty was established in 1963.
Chemical Technology Faculty of Tver State Technical University trains specialists in the spheres of chemistry, chemical technology, biotechnology, standardization and metrology.
The faculty cooperates actively with foreign educational institutions for the purpose of a steady growth in the quality of training specialists. Since 2007 it has been providing education in the framework of the joint education program of TvSTU and Abo Akademi, Finland. The objective of this program is to train specialists in chemical technology certified with both the Russian diploma and a diploma from the chemical faculty of Abo Akademi. This allows our graduates being employed both in Russia and abroad or in foreign companies without any additional procedure for validation of her/his knowledge and diploma.
The faculty is headed by Associate Professor Evgeny A. PANKRATOV, PhD in Chemistry.
There are approximately 300 students being educated at the faculty.
The faculty features training students as future engineers.
It educates Bachelors in compliance with new Federal Government Education Standards for Higher Vocational Education in four directions:
- Chemistry;
- Standardization and Metrology;
- Chemical Technology;
- Biotechnology;
and specialists in specialty:
- Fundamental and Applied Chemistry.

FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT AND SOCIAL COMMUNICATIONS (FMSK)
Faculty of Management and Social Communications teaches specialists and bachelors in the spheres of economics, management, humanities and social sciences.
The faculty graduates - thanks to their fundamental background - can work in different branches of the economy of the Russian Federation, city of Tver and Tver Region in engineering, management and top management positions.
The faculty is headed by Full Professor Ivan I. PAVLOV, PhD in Engineering.
There are approximately 1100 students being educated at the faculty.
The faculty teaches bachelors in compliance with new Federal Government Education Standards for Higher Vocational Education in ten directions:

FACULTY OF INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC COOPERATION (FIAC)
Tver State Technical University started teaching foreign citizens in 1979 with opening Preparation Faculty for foreign citizens.
Since 1980 the university has also begun teaching foreigners at its basic faculties. To work with foreign citizens at the basic faculties, a Supplementary Russian Language Department and a special Dean's Office for work with foreign students were organized.
From 1979 TvSTU provided the pre-university training for more than 5300 foreign citizens from 82 countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Since that time TvSTU awarded
- Engineer Diplomas to more than 750 foreign citizens,
- PhD degrees to more than 40 foreign students,
- over 120 students were certified as Russian Language Teachers for Russian Language Courses.
The faculty is headed by Associate Professor Vladimir F. MARTYUSHOV, PhD in Philosophy.
There are approximately 450 students being educated at the faculty.
