The corresponding amounts of δ ferrite and austenite
are given in Table 2. The data show that the central region of
the weld (zone 2 on Fig. 4), where the cooling rate is relatively
slow compared to the fusion boundaries (zones 1 and 3), is
characterized by a high amount of austenite. In contrast, a
high level of delta ferrite is present in the over heated part of
the HAZ (zone 4).
