The over-expression of zeaxanthine epoxidase (ZEP) in
transgenic tobacco boosted seed dormancy [30] and ABA
and its carotenoid precursors were coordinately accumulated in
developing wild type, and ABA-deficient mutants seeds and
their accumulation correlated to ZEP expression pattern [31].
Likewise, the transcriptional regulators ABA-INSENSITIVE3
(ABI3), LEAFY COTYLEDON (LEC1 and LEC2) and FUSCA3
(FUS3), are potent promoters of embryonic identity, interacting
with mediators of ABA signalling to regulate embryo
maturation
