Agar diffusion method
The antimicrobial activities of the natural plant pigments were
evaluated using the agar diffusion method. Inocula of approximately
107 CFU were inoculated onto the surface of pre-dried
agar. Sterile 8-mm filter paper discs were placed on the plates and
impregnated with 30 l of sample extract. After allowing 1 h at
room temperature for the extracts to facilitate diffusion across the
surface, the plates were incubated at 37 ◦C for 24 h for the bacteria.
However, Salmonella typhymurium was incubated at 30 ◦C for 24 h.
The antimicrobial activity was measured as the size of the clear
zone of growth inhibition. The kanamycin was used as the control
