Their single factor analysis found risk factors for PSP consistent with previous work. These included older age, COPD, dysphagia and level of consciousness. Notably the only significant correlation between pneumonia and lesion location – left anterior cerebral territory, disappeared when adjusting for confounders. Lesions < 1.5 cm were significantly associated with less pneumonia infection. The converse was true for lesions > 5 cm (see table 2).
