Activity tracking is generally achieved using accelerometer data [17]. The motion cloud is capable of computing the number
of steps taken by an individual by analysing the properties of motion sensed during gait. The algorithm interprets an angular change of 112 degrees to equate to one step taken. This particular value was calibrated by running the smartphone application alongside a FitBit Ultra pedometer. Table 1 summarizes activity and illustrates a rough approximation of the steps taken by each individual during the two hour recording session.
