TEACHING EXPERIENCE
For each of my years as an undergraduate at the University of California, San Diego, I dedicated several hours each quarter to tutoring students on a range of subjects both at the University, as well as at local preparatory schools. This experience has contributed to a deep understanding of how students of all ages are each individually unique with regards to what teaching methods work best for them. As a tutor, I have learned that regardless of what subject or what type a learner a student might be, simplifying the material is most often the best way for students to grasp an understanding of the material. I therefore make the utmost effort to incorporate a variety of mechanisms to help simplify course material. Once the student grasps the simplified or initial concept, I am confident that he or she will be much better equipped to explore more advanced but related concepts. As a Summa Cum Laude graduate from UCSD, I also have gained a profound understanding and first-hand perspective of the challenges that students face, as well as the best tools and methods to overcome these challenges.
EXTRACURRICULAR INTERESTS
I enjoy following international affairs, playing basketball and soccer. I also love to do as many activities as possible outdoors. Above all, I appreciate any opportunity to help others maximize their potential.
TOP SUBJECTS
English
I take pride in the dramatic improvement I have witnessed from several of the students that I have tutored in both English and Writing. I like to help others improve their writing by identifying and correcting systematic errors, as well as introducing principles that can help to dramatically improve writing ability over the long-term.
Political Science
As a political science major at one of the best universities for political science in the world with a 3.9+ major GPA, I have earned an unparalleled education in political science. GPA aside, political science is my passion, and I frequently follow recent scholarship as well as world affairs.
Study Skills
I took the maximum 5 course-load at UCSD for several quarters in a row, and earned a 4.0 in most of these quarters. Such an accomplishment required me to develop advanced study skills, and I am eager to share those skills with any student seeking help.
Writing
During my time as an undergraduate, it was not uncommon for me to have 3-4 papers due weekly. My transcript reflects that I excelled on these assignments, ranging from classes on U.S. foreign policy, to courses on the microeconomics of ocean resources.
