I oversee characters after animation has completed its performances. We run simulations for cloth and hair, general clean-up and contact work. In some cases, we do secondary animation to help fill out the shot. We also do a technical check to make sure that all the characters within the shot are prepared for final lighting and compositing.
I'm proud of everything I've worked on. Computer animation is still a relatively new medium. Every project entails a unique challenge to support the creative, and it's always rewarding to conquer those challenges and see it work well with the story that is being told. And it requires a huge amount of collaboration from all artists, from both creative and technology, to achieve those goals.
I love working here because of Disney's animation legacy. Disney has always strived to maintain the goal of telling quality stories with dynamic characters. There's very little compromise in the process of filmmaking here. That's incredibly appealing to be a part of.
One of my most memorable experiences was actually my first day, which included orientation and a tour of the studio. It was a surreal experience to see for the first time all the soundstages and the original animation buildings on the main lot, where it all started.
Disney continues to bring amazing artistic and technology talent into this building. To be able to work alongside them is pretty cool. The directors, the art directors – their stories and artwork continue to inspire me. I'm always looking forward to seeing what new challenges will arise.
