The established method was applied to the analysis of PAs in39 high lipid food samples purchased from Korean markets. Typ-ical total ion chromatograms and MRM chromatograms of thepyrrolizidine alkaloids extracted from Borago officininalis oil andsoybeans obtained by LC-ESI-MS/MS-MRM mode are shown inFig. 6A and B, respectively. The PAs in Borago officininalis oil andsoybeans with high lipid contents were clearly detected and accu-rately quantified without any interfering peaks. To quantify the PAs,the most abundant transition ion in the MRM mode was selectedfor the integration of the peak area against the internal standard.Among the target analytes, crotaline, heliotrine, and echimidinewere detected in Borago officininalis oil at 1.91, 12.55 and 26.96 ng/g,as shown in Fig. 6A. The confirmation of PAs was achieved on thebasis of the retention times and peak area ratios of the two MRMtransition ions compared with those of standards in the LC-ESI-MSMRM mode. Additionally, trace amount of intermedine in soybeanscould be clearly detected
