The goals of the “take a walk in my shoes” were met. Students gained experience in serving in th nurse educator role while also increasing their knowledge of older adults. All students took part in educating participants at simulation stations and engaged in educating activities. Although anxiety concerning educating health care employees was initially expressed, the students shared a sense of accomplishment at the completion of the project. Students reported increased knowledge of older adults as a result of preparing to educate others. During debriefing meetings with faculty, students discussed the effectiveness of teaching as a learning method. One student stated, “in order to teach something, you really have to learn it first.”
