4.3.2. Onshore and Offshore: Creating a Community of Learning
Several participants saw the opportunity, primarily through programmes such as Moodle, for TNEP students to come together with onshore students in a virtual community of learning.
In the TNEP, curricula subjects taught in HK match those taught in Australia. Subject material is contextualised for HK where relevant, but at a conceptual level, content is principally the same. Participants felt that a virtual community of learning would bring offshore and onshore students together, including those who have travelled from overseas to study at UOW, and provide opportunities for a truly globalised experience of learning.
“. . .so for example if there is an online module we might say, for Hong Kong learners you'll cover this in the face to face session, so that the other learners have got a sense that they are part of a bigger group . . . to integrate the Hong Kong and the UOW campus groups but I did wonder whether we would put everyone in a mix.”
