Prof. Dr. M. Bahadur Ntitipis said that “Calcium is a vital mineral that our body uses to stabilize blood pressure and build strong bones and teeth. Everyone should consume the recommended amount of calcium per day through the food they eat or, if necessary, by taking calcium supplements. The statistics from the Consumer Survey 2554 said that people in Thailand consume 301 mg. of calcium per person per day but normally body needs 1,000-1,300 mg of calcium. Although the numbers are relatively low But it may also have some food items consumed in Thailand such as small fish, crustaceans, insects, canned fish , grasshopper and many traditional food. They should increase the amount of calcium in the foods they eat in order to reduce their risk of brittle bone disease (osteoporosis) and calcium deficiency disease.”
