INTRODUCTION
Considerable evidence shows that more than 100
diseases affecting human beings are caused or
aggravated by accumulation of free radicals or
reactive oxygen species and the associated lipid
peroxidation in the body (Chen and Yen, 2005).
Some of these diseases include malaria,
atherosclerosis, cancer, diabetes, acquired
immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and heart
diseases (Luximon-Ramma et al., 2002; Li et al.,
2010).
