DISTRIBUTION LOAD MODELING
INTRODUCTION
in the previous section on power flow we assumed that the circuit load could be modeled by a constant real and reactive power consumption. In reality load is a much more complicated phenomena than our simple model suggests since load is the summation of the demands of different types of electrical devices. Not only is load not constant power with respect to changes in voltage, but it changes with time-of-day, day-of-week and season of year. Since it is impractical to model in detail every motor, heater, power supply, etc, connected to our circuit, then we are forced to make some simplifying assumptions in order to perform an analysis.
