In a recent study, based on electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques, it has been reported that the addition of BaO in sodium borosilicate glass significantly improves the extent of ThO2 incorporation in the glass [16]. 29Si and 11B MAS NMR studies carried out for these samples revealed that the relative concentration of Qn structural units of silicon, BO3 and BO4 structural units are unaffected by ThO2 incorporation in the glass [17]
