According to Beck-Winchatz and Riccobono (2008), many blind students in science classes are often left without crucial classroom resources, including accessible graphics. Several research studies have been performed to identify useful methods of conveying graphical information to blind and VI students. These studies involve the use of audio and computer resources to provide translation of the visual information (Levy & Lahav, 2012). However, it is frequently noted that the use of tactile and hands-on-materials is crucial to create a strong academic setting for these students (Janssen, et al., 2010).
