I watched the first episode of "Outlander" on the STARZ channel, found it very satisfying and enjoyable. High production values, excellent cast, great cinematography and art direction and superb acting on the part of the heroine. I am amazed at how the American audiences have embraced British accents and actors and actresses in the last ten to fifteen years. I think Harry Potter was a game changer with this. We'd always had Masterpiece Theater, and anointed geniuses like Anthony Hopkins or Peter O'Toole, but Harry Potter accustomed millions of young people to British talent and charm --- and crisp high diction. And then Game of Thrones burst on the scene with so many British actors and actresses doing high diction as well. All this amplified the effect of "The Tudors" and other high qualities series. Now I think we expect it in costume drama, fantasy, historical drama, paranormal drama and the like. We love it. It's the new Golden Era in Television (and film) indeed. --- I'll be following "Outlander." I'm hooked.
