Participants used TrainingPeaks software to record
dietary intake and exercise activity, 3 days·month–1,
through one cycling season. Records were completed
on alternating days each month to represent all days of
the week. Each participant received training in dietary
recording and a handout with visuals for estimating
portion sizes. They were encouraged to use a scale or
household measures to quantify food intake whenever
possible. A member of the research team evaluated the
dietary records and contacted participants within a week
of recording to clarify their entries. Data were analyzed,
and daily EI, macronutrient, and micronutrient intakes
were estimated using Food Processor (SQL version
10.5.0, ESHA, Salem, OR). Supplement intake was not
included in the analysis unless it contributed more than
10 kcal to daily EI.
