In the case of halophilic isolates (SBSK-57, SBSK-67 and SBSK-
120) the growth was absent and minimal at lower salinities
whereas at 35 psu up to 100 psu there was abundant growth and
multiplication (Fig. 5A). Maximum production of antibiotic in
halophilic isolates viz SBSK-57 (Streptomyces sp.), SBSK-115
(Nocardiopsis sp.) and SBSK-120 (Kocuria sp.) was also observed at
35 psu however SBSK-120 and SBSK-57 produced almost half of the
antibiotic at 20 psu and no production below 20 psu. SBSK-115 did
not show any antibiotic production at salinities below 35 psu but
produced the metabolite upto 50 psu. SBSK-120 and SBSK-57
similarly produced the anti-bacterial compound upto 75 psu
(Fig. 5B). It was found that the halotolerant Streptomyces sp. strain
SBSK-8 and Micromonospora sp. strain SBSK-356 produced
