The last major leap forward we have had with audio technology was when mp3 players appeared in 1998. These allowed us to play music we had downloaded off the internet. This led to the introduction of technology we use today such as iPods and other mp3 players which allow us to carry thousands and thousands of audio and video files in our pocket and listen to and watch them whenever and wherever we want. Also things such as mp3 compatible DJ decks have appeared which means there is no longer to carry a big bag full of vinyl to a gig, only something which is no bigger than the palm of your hand.
