Woven textiles that are composed of silk and urushi lacquered wall paper. Two traditional Japanese techniques and materials are employed to create this hybrid textile. Various patterns are woven with silk, gold & silver thread. This technique used to make textiles with fine yet durable multicolored threads is called Nishikori. Hikibaku is a traditional form of washi paper that has been silver and gold leaf painted. After the washi paper is painted with decorative patterns, it is cut into very thin thread-like veneers that are woven with silk to create a flexible textile hence the name Hikibaku -Nishikiori. It is available in both 16 and 28 in (45 and 70 cm) widths and in customized lengths. Applications are for luxury home accessories, apparel and decorative textiles.
