2. 1. 4 Starch content of cassava tubers The starch
content also followed the trends of yield and other
parameters in response to all the four treatments. The
plants treated with combined treatment of spray +
irrigation recorded highest starch content in their
tubers. The average starch content under this treatment
were recorded as 25.77 and 19.86% in cassava varieties
Nanzhil99 and SC8 which increased over control by
36.49 and 15.13% , respectively. The average starch
content of tuber in all the treatments was increased
by 15.21%. These results also indicated that applying
suitable concentration of CPPU, foliarly as well as in
the form of irrigation, at expanding stage of root tubers
could increase their starch content.
