The specific research on which this table is based is summarised in Table 2.4. The main result
illustrated in this Table is that, in terms of distance travelled, the cost of accidents to cars in passenger-km is
virtually the same as the cost of accidents in trucks in tonne-km, and about 10 times higher than that of buses.
The cost of the railway is much lower.
