Our fourth major finding was that agreeableness contributed
unique variance to global LS. However, agreeableness contributed
unique variance to only one of the five domains, specifically, family
satisfaction. A possible explanation might be that early adolescents
who behave in an agreeable way (e.g., being polite, helping
others) should be more likely to experience a satisfying family
environment. Nevertheless, the finding that agreeableness did
not contribute unique variance to other interpersonal domains,
such as friendships, was surprising and warrants further
investigation.
