This is not the same Whistlers' Rebellion crowd we saw Sunday, but a splinter group with similar goals: all want to be rid of PM Yingluck Shinawatra But make no mistake, this crowd never blew a whistle today, and a great number were not even wearing the signature whistle. My impression from talking with people for hours is that many of these folks probably were at the 2010 violent rally that wanted Yingluck in -- and now they want her out. (They definitely want her out.)
No police or Army were needed during the massive Sunday rally but today both police and army were there in force, and there were at least two fatalities with many wounded.
This will not be popular to say: what I saw today was protesters provoking the police -- just like 2010, only that time they were provoking the Army.
The new policies seem to be making the poor even poorer
