In recent years, with the wide application and
improvement of wide-area measurement system (W AMS),
the entire power grid achieves synchronization of data
collection and observation. And dynamic monitoring of
the grid is possible and it ensures high-precision clock
synchronization data collection. When short-circuit fault
occurs in the power grid, the transient disturbance
generated from fault point spreads around the surrounding
so that different positions of current and voltage waveform
will become distortion, forming a special disturbance
wave in the power grid. Based on the analysis of
high-voltage transmission line fault transient process, this
paper proposes a new way of data collection. And it makes
the use of current polarity and the delay time of voltage
disturbance in the adjacent points to locate the short circuit
position in the power grid. Simulation results show that
the method's error is much smaller, higher reliability and
better to meet the requirements of grid operation.
