To characterize the chemical modification performed in the prion proteins adsorbed on the thiamine-immobilized SiO2 surfaceas the initial assessment on this communication, X-ray photoelec-tron spectroscopy (XPS) was carried out. The chemical modification of proteins attached in the surface can be reflected by the change in the intensity and position of peaks at the C 1s and O 1s regions(Fig. 2). The deconvolution of XPS spectra for each elemental region before and after the chemical modification was analyzed and summarized as shown in Table 1.
