A group of Al Jazeera journalists and employees convicted in absentia by Egypt’s courts will formally request that President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi intervene in their cases. The seven are part of the same case that saw Baher Mohamed and Mohamed Fahmy walk free from jail last week. Egyptians Mohamed Fawzy, Alaa Bayoumi, Khalil Bahnacy and Anas Abdel Wahab have been unable to return to their home country as a result of the verdict. Britons Dominic Kane and Sue Turton, and Australian Peter Greste, who was released in February after more than a year in prison, are also affected by travel restrictions placed on them by the case.
