Recruitment process
We believe it is important for our candidates to have an overview of our selection procedure in order to understand how their application will be handled.
We believe that recruitment is a two way process where we can ensure there is a good 'fit to Honda’ - for both of us. So, during our Assessment Day, we'll tell you a lot more about our Company and the Honda philosophy and we will also give you a tour of our production facility here at Swindon. We will ensure that your application is dealt with promptly to enable your career with us to begin as quickly as possible.
We aim to process all our recruitment administration electronically and therefore our preferred method of communication is through email.
The Assessment Day
If you are selected for an interview, you will be invited to attend an Assessment day at our Manufacturing Facility in Swindon. The day will last approximately five hours and light refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
Our Assessment Day is designed to enable us to measure your skills, knowledge, attitude and behaviour to perform a role at Honda and you will also be required to complete an assessment based on the position you have applied for. Your first interview will be conducted by a member of HR and our interview questions are designed to help us establish whether we believe there is a 'fit’ to Honda, and throughout the day an assessment will be made as to whether we believe you have the 'will and potential’ for a career opportunity at Honda.
Equal Opportunities employer
HUM is committed to the principle of creating equal opportunities within the workplace for all individual Associates, Agency Workers, Contractors, Job Applicants and Visitors. This commitment comes directly from the Honda Philosophy and belief that we all work together for a common purpose. It is the contribution that we make as individuals that makes our success. For candidates with disabilities, we will apply reasonable adjustments in order to accommodate.
Preparing yourself so that you get the most out of the Assessment Day
The interview process is fairly informal and simple so you can relax and enjoy the process of telling us all about yourself and why you might be the right candidate for Honda.
First impressions matter – consider this and dress appropriately for an interview and for the Plant Tour, wear flat enclosed shoes.
The Honda Philosophy is at the core of everything we do. This means that it is not just your skills and experience which we are interested in. As a unique human being, we are also interested in your dreams and what drives you. We want to get to know you as an individual first, so please think about this before you attend your interview.
Preparation does matter – take the time to find out what you can about us.
You will be provided with a lot of information about Honda and how our operation works so consider some questions that you may wish to ask.
Finally, if we do decide that we would like you to join us at Honda we want to make sure that you understand everything there is to know about us so use the opportunity to get all of your questions answered.
Following the Assessment Day
If you are successful following the Assessment Day, your application will be screened by a management team who will determine not only your experience and skill, but where you would be best placed at Honda and where your career begins.
The second interview (not applicable for Production Associate applicants) is more about your skills and experience and will typically be carried out by a Manager who can judge your skill level and where it could fit within Honda. You will also meet another member of HR who will re-confirm your responses provided at your first interview as well as practical points such as your notice period.
In some cases you may be required to attend a third interview to determine the most appropriate placement. Following a successful interview process we will be in a position to talk to you about a job offer at Honda.
