The fatty acid composition of intramuscular fat is
shown in Table IV. Monounsaturated fatty acids
(MUFA) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA)
were lowest and highest, respectively in In-A80 and
Out-R pigs. The proportion of saturated fatty acids
(SAFA) was lowest in In-80A and Out-R pigs.
This resulted in a dramatic increase in the P:S
ratio in these animals. Also PUFA (n-6) was
highest in In-80A and Out-R pigs, while PUFA
(n-3) was only slightly changed by treatment,
resulting in higher PUFA (n-6):(n-3) ratio in LD
of these pigs
