In 1990, 
the two governments agreed to establish 
the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Authority 
(MTJA) to oversee, and plan joint 
activities relating to, development of the 
JDA. In 1997, the Petroleum Authority 
of Thailand (PTT) (The name was 
changed to “PTT Public Co. Ltd.,” from 
October 1, 2001) and the Malaysian 
state oil company Petronas signed a 
Head of Agreement (HOA), agreeing to 
share the benefits accrued from the JDA 
equally
